Strength for Today

Isaiah 30: 15, 18, 19.  “This is what the Sovereign Lord the Holy One of Israel, says:
In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion.  For the Lord is a God of justice.  Blessed are all who wait for Him!
..How gracious He will be when you cry for help!  As soon as He hears, He will answer you."

When Isaiah wrote these verses, Israel had turned from following the will of God and in the middle of the prophecy about the result of turning away from God are these beautiful verses showing God’s love towards man. You can sense the yearning that God feels when He realizes that the people He loves do not want what He promises. Our God is truly a God of grace and compassion. He longs for us to enter into the salvation that He has provided. These promises are for you today.  Let us claim the promise together in prayer.

Our Prayer

O Lord, we thank You that You long to be gracious to us - that it is Your desire for us to come to You and cry for help.  So often we try and go about our living in our own way and in our own strength.  Help us always to remember that You are longing to assist us.  These words that we have read from Your Word, remind us that You are a God of action.  We are not left to struggle by ourselves but when we come before You in repentance, You rise to show us compassion.  Oh what a wonderful God!   Thank You that as soon as we cry to You, You hear us.

We are sinful and unworthy but You have promised to forgive.  Please accept our repentance today.  Thank You Lord for Your love and forgiveness.

Today we pray for this dear reader.  You know the need of their heart.  Please pour into their life the blessings that You have promised.  Give them the joy of Your salvation, the strength to face the issues of life.  May they know the comfort of the Holy Spirit when things happen that cause grief.   In the anxieties of life and decisions that must be made, may Your promise of guidance and direction be made real for them.

We also pause to pray for those who are very dear to us.   Please be with them to guide, strengthen and sustain.

Thank You that You hear our prayer and that You have promised that as soon as You hear, You answer.  Thank You for Your answer.  We praise You in the name of Jesus our Saviour.  Amen.

Friend, may you know the grace and compassion of God today, may you experience His salvation and receive His strength to face the issues of life that come to you.
